The urban development authorities of two cities in Gujarat, India - Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) and Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority (GUDA) - are working together to create a joint development plan (DP) for both cities. This will be the first time such a collaboration has taken place in Gujarat. The mapping of areas under the jurisdiction of both authorities has already begun, and a report will be presented to senior officials of the urban development department and the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in a year's time. The state wants AUDA and GUDA to work together for the proposed joint DP of 2031, which will provide better integration between the two cities. AUDA CEO Devang Desai was given additional charge of GUDA to facilitate this collaboration. The new DP will take into account the Non-Agricultural (NA) land in the green zone of the 69 villages falling under AUDA. The official also pointed out that the development of the 200-feet SP Ring Road and another ring road passing through Gandhinagar make a joint DP for both cities a sensible move. The DP is expected to be ready by March.
